Virtual Real Porn Review: Ten Years of VR Porn, How Does It Rank Today?

Updated on:

If there were one site to take the “Veteran” title of the virtual reality porn sphere, it would be Virtual Real Porn; they’ve been around for years. As such, the company has had loads of time to tweak and refine its provisions — and it’s done a good job.

VR has been in the porn space for about a decade now, but for us, device price, availability of media, Internet download speeds and so on are really starting to make this type of experience less of a gimmick and more of a reality.

VRP is alleged to have the most realistic and exclusive VR porn content around – they also claim to be pioneers in the space, so we’ll be setting the bar pretty high for their content.

I’m looking forward to putting these proclamations to the test, as well as chucking on a VR headset to see how it stacks up against the competition. Check out our complete hands-on review of Virtual Real Porn below:

Virtual Real Porn Review: First Impressions

Kicking off its production in 2013, Virtual Real Porn is very much an old name in the VR adult media space. They decided to commit to the genre after the first iteration of the Oculus Rift came to market. Back then, you had to spend around $800 to get the ball rolling: nowadays, you can pick up a semi-decent Meta Quest 2 for $250: even if we ignore inflation, that’s a hell of a discount.

VRP has a small manifesto posted on their website: it’s quite clear that they want to be an ethical company, but they don’t appear to lean into it as much as, say, Bellesa does.

The Virtual Real Porn Manifesto

Virtual Real Porn hasn’t flown under the radar when it comes to award nominations either: back in 2016, XBIZ had them on their shortlist of Best VR Porn Sites, but they lost out to BaDoink. Most recently in 2024, they lost out to VR Bangers.

The official blog for VRP also lists a number of award winning starlets they’ve had on set: more about the female talent later, but I can promise you that they really do like hiring the cream of the crop for their productions.

It ought to be made clear that like all VR destinations, you’ll need a premium account if you want to access the content. Here are the current plans available – as well as their prices – as of the start of 2024:

Current Virtual Real Porn Pricing

What really stands out to me is the lost cost to entry – I didn’t even hunt for a discount code to get an offer of $12.95 per month: it’s provided by default.

This is far below the industry average. I also love the fact that there are no differences between each tier of membership in terms of what’s made available to you. Some sites limit your account to just streaming, or don’t offer 8K downloads, unless you pay more. I prefer the approach that Virtual Real Porn has adopted.

It should be noted that there are additional studios you can sign up for, but these are optional. Since you have to pay extra and it’s not required, we’re just going to look at Virtual Real Porn’s main platform for this review.

Two quick things: firstly, the currency conversion is handled by the third-party biller, so I ended up paying 13.69 USD in AUD instead of the $12.95 quoted and secondly, there is a pre-checked cross sale for VR Latina. Untick it unless you want to watch tanned, bubble butt baddies getting wild.

I had zero issues when signing up: the process was pretty quick and painless. It even automatically logged me in once my money went through!

The VRP Member’s Area

I recommend accessing Virtual Real Porn via your desktop PC – at least to begin with.

You’ll be prompted to select which device you have and there are 14 current options. This appears to be done to suggest the highest quality format scene that your device supports – after all, there’s not much utility in you using bandwidth and storage space that your VR headset cannot handle. There’s also a special link available if you’re accessing the site via PSVR.

Virtual Real Porn also has support for teledildonics: these are toys you can wrap around your member and that will simulate the experience that the male star is having. Support for these toys isn’t uncommon, but since I’m in an office with other people, I won’t be putting these devices to the test. The two main supported products are the Lovense Max and the Kiiroo Onyx.

A quick look at the latest scenes added to the Virtual Real Porn database shows that they release two new scenes per week and have done so for quite some time. A small touch I also appreciate: they tease future releases, so you can get excited for upcoming VR porn drops.

Virtual Real Porn calendar schedule

The preview panes are pretty good, but I would like to see some data regarding the length of the upload included. It’s trivial to put the scene length in minutes in the bottom right-hand corner: just a small change that’ll make the user experience a bit better.

I do have a complaint about the overall website structure and how videos are displayed, but I’ll come to that a bit later. Small details I will mention now: a few adverts here and there, but nothing extreme. They also don’t have one-click unsubscribe, but they do provide you with clear details on how to cancel your subscription and it can be done without any third party processing it on your behalf.

Video Analysis

Quantity

Before you sign up, Virtual Real Porn promises over 900 videos: I’m pleased to report that as of February 2024, they’re sitting on a database of 928 full-length releases, all of which appear to be exclusive to the platform. The first video in their archive dates back to April of 2014, but since the title is “Desired Cumshot – Part II“, I actually suspect that a few scenes posted earlier than this have gone missing, as I was unable to find Part I.

Scenes are shorter than I typically find from VR hubs: you’re looking at an average of about 35 minutes, whereas other platforms are closer to 50 minutes and in some instances, a full hour. Action tends to start a bit sooner on Virtual Real Porn though, so it does less introductory work and gets down to the good stuff at a quicker pace.

Quality

The very first releases on VRP were only available in 3K formats: hardly the talk of the town. These days, Virtual Real Porn has committed to publishing its media in full 8K and has done so for quite some time.

They’ve gradually improved their standards over the years and went through quite a long period of having 5K uploads – these are more than acceptable and look great, so don’t think that most of the videos here are going to be too poor of a quality for you to be interested in.

Virtual Real Porn video quality analysis from our testing

Here are the 4K and 8K videos presented side by side of the latest VRP scene. As you can see, both run at 60 FPS: the 4K is 30 Mb/s and the 8K is 52 Mb/s.

The scene I grabbed as 32 minutes in length and clocked in at 6.81 GB and 11.96 GB respectively. The 4K I grabbed has a noticeably higher bitrate than I typically see. Both also have 256 kbps audio: I’m pretty sure that anything above this cannot be meaningfully distinguished by the human ear.

There are a myriad of alternative formats here: 5K, 4K with a lower bitrate, h265 and HD options for smartphones and PSVR. You can also stream directly from the site, with HD, 3K, 4K, 5K and 8K support.

Download Speeds

Since VR scenes are quite large, I want to see decent download speeds offered. In the case of Virtual Real Porn: that’s not the case. It’s not terrible, but there are a few issues here, and they’re lagging behind the competition as a result.

Firstly: I was unable to use my download manager – this is the first time I’ve encountered this issue, and it’s likely something to do with piracy prevention. Not the end of the world, since most browsers can handle high speed downloads, but the maximum speed I observed with VRP was 22 MB/s. Don’t get me wrong: this is a great pace, but hubs like VR Bangers can go up to 113 MB/s, which is five times as fast.

VRP download speed test

One saving grace: it appears that the maximum speed is for a single download, so if you grab multiple scenes at the same time, you’ll increase your throughput. Still – I’d like to see support for gigabit connections here. If you’re on a 100 Mb/s line you won’t be able to tell the difference, but if you’re serious about VR and have a decent Web link, VRP’s servers can be a bottleneck.

Content Analysis

I’m confident that Virtual Real Porn produces and publishes its own media in-house. Uploads are relatively vanilla in nature, so don’t think that you’re going to find a bunch of weird or extreme releases here. They’re trying to appeal to as many people as possible, so expect run of the mill banging without too much deviation from your stock standard production in the porn space.

Boy/girl uploads are what you’ll find most of, but there are quite a few multi-girl scenes here too. VRP has a section on their site for various categories, so it’s quite simple to find the threesomes. A quick count revealed that there are 186 threesome tagged uploads: that’s about 20% of the archive.

There is a section for scenes tagged with BDSM, but if we take a look at the preview thumbnails, it’s quite clear that this is very tame in comparison to what a destination like Kink.com offers.

Virtual Real Porn BDSM Scenes

All three major ethic interests have their assortment of babes: there’s no shortage of VR porn uploaded here containing Asian, Latina and ebony pornstars. Black chicks have the highest number of scenes, followed by Asians and then Latinas. If you want to experiment with exotic ladies in virtual reality – this is one service that can do that for you with ease.

I watched a total of 5 scenes here, picking a new release every 6 or so months. One of the downloads I grabbed featured Sumire Mizukawa: a Japanese pornstar. It’s typically quite difficult to find VR content featuring JAV chicks, but she did a total of 7 scenes in a series for VRP and they’re fantastic.

I do have a thing for Asian girls, so I might be slightly biased – but given the relative difficulty of getting genuine JAV stars in a VR environment – especially without pixelated junk – it was awesome.

Website Access in VR

Virtual Real Porn doesn’t have a dedicated app – but that’s okay, in the porn world, this is pretty much unheard of. Some rival websites try to assist with accessibility using third-party tools, but the fact of the matter is – it’s fine to just access VRP through a standard browser.

When you first load up a video, the site will prompt you to give it permissions for VR immersion – allow this and you’re away to the races.

My view of Virtual Real Porn in VR

I found the website easy to use in VR: you can download videos to your headset directly too, but if you’re conscious about space, it’s probably best just to stream them. Virtual Real Porn’s website has been optimized for VR devices as well as desktops.

Design & Navigation

From the desktop perspective, Virtual Real Porn isn’t incredible, but it’s not bad either. Things I like include associated scenes, plenty of categories, additional niche tags (handjob, location-based action, pussy hair status and so on), the ability to stream and scene descriptions. The site loads at an okay pace, but some pages take a few more seconds than I’d like to render.

Each pornstar who’s appeared at VRP has a profile. You’ll find a quick biography, the scenes they’ve appeared in, details about their body (bust, waist, eye color, DOB and so on) as well as external social links. Smallest complaint ever incoming: they use ‘blond’ instead of ‘blonde’ to describe their female stars’ hair color. Awful.

There are adverts dotted around the place, but it’s done quite innocently and they’re promoting other VR products, so it’s not like they’re out of line. They’re also promoting a site that has female-POV VR content – first I’ve ever heard of that! Cool idea and something that we might have to review down the line.

The Mobile Experience

I don’t think that most readers will access Virtual Real Porn on their mobiles – sure, Google Cardboard exists, but if you’re signing up to this website, you’ve likely got a proper device.

Mobile experience on VRP

Very standard design – but it’s functional and makes accessing the media easy. Some VR devices have decent Bluetooth connectivity, so in some instances, you may want to download from the website and transfer it over to your headset.

Just be warned: these files are large, and most phones don’t have the capacity to hold a large number of them.

Both the mobile and desktop versions of Virtual Real Porn have 60-second trailers that you can access. I had to configure Safari on my iPhone to make it play correctly for Google Cardboard, but it’s nice that you can sample the wares without having to commit to a membership.

Billing Information

You can sign up to VRP for 1 month, 3 months, 1 year and a special lifetime account option. You’ll pay $12.95 for 1 month, $29.85 for 3, $77.40 for 12 and $249 for a lifetime account. All membership lengths have the same package: you don’t need to pay extra for 8K scenes or downloads.

You can bundle access to Virtual Real Trans and Virtual Real Passion: these optional sites contain shemale and female-POV media. Most folks won’t be interested, but they’re $12 each on the monthly option or $22 for the pair. Pretty steep, all things considered.

You can sign up to Virtual Real Porn using a standard credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard and Discover are supported), PayPal, gift cards (Appple, Best Buy, Costco, Walmart, etc.) and cryptocurrency. What’s really quite awesome about paying with cryptocurrency is you get a juicy discount: the $12.95 membership turned into just $9.95.

You can pay with seven different currencies: BTC, BCH, LTC, DASH, DOGE, XEM and XMR. The currency conversions were mid-market rate too, so you’re not paying anything extra (except for the transaction fee).

How Will Virtual Real Porn Purchases Appear on My Statement?

Here’s how my bank reported my Virtual Real Porn purchase to me:

How Virtual Real Porn transaction appeared on my bank statement

Typing this exact phrase into Google didn’t yield any meaningful results that link it to adult entertainment, although it’s quite obvious it’s a VR purchase. I think it’s fair to say that Virtual Real Porn’s billing is almost fully discreet.

What Could Virtual Real Porn Do Better?

The biggest issue I encountered when using Virtual Real Porn was the lack of all scene archive.

This made it particularly difficult to go back in time to find scenes from long ago. I had to manually click through a huge number of pagination links on the homepage and scroll down each time to find out when the first upload was put on the platform – not convenient in the slightest.

Other sections also lacked pagination, so if you go to the best videos page where scenes are sorted by rating – you cannot go back more than a few dozen scenes.

Virtual Real Porn also needs to make their download servers competitive: the current speeds simply aren’t up to scratch, and since they’re serving VR-related content, it’s important that people can access their videos as timely as possible. Paying customers ought to have the benefit of speed – especially when rival services are doing it.

They even have a speed test in the member’s panel for you to pick a mirror: one was slightly better, but a far cry from saturating my connection.

Our Verdict on Virtual Real Porn

Virtual Real Porn Review

Virtual Real Porn has been in the game for a long time: they know the genre, their videos are great and there are very few things here that cause concern.

Are there improvements to be made? Absolutely: but I’m impressed at their large archive, 4K scene bitrates, twice weekly updates and support for cryptocurrency billing with a huge discount added on for good measure.

Exclusive content, regular releases and a very low monthly membership cost are the three biggest things to note about this particular service. Virtual Real Porn has been competitive for quite some time and I’m confident that as they reach 1,000 uploads and beyond, things will only get better.

Check out the tour and sample their trailers: you’ll find it hard to be disappointed with what’s on the other side.
