Slut Roulette Review: High Quality Cams, But Where Is The Roulette?

Slut Roulette is an adult take on a platform by the name of Chat Roulette.

The latter was launched in 2009 by Andrey Ternovskiy, a Russian teenager who went on to become very successful. Since adult content isn’t allowed on Chat Roulette, rivals have come along to try and emulate the experience – only with an erotic twist.

We’ll make it clear from the get go: Slut Roulette isn’t the same as Chat Roulette.

The website is essentially a branded wrapper around webcam platform, designed to function and feel like the original site. You won’t be in a one-on-one session with the person you’re presented with, nor can they see your webcam. Chat Roulette paired you up with a stranger who had similar interests and no one online was doing it as a job – that’s not the case here on Slut Roulette.

Don’t go thinking that Slut Roulette is a scam, though. It’s a fully-fledged adult cam platform and today, we’re going to take a deep dive into it. Here’s our full, hands-on review of Slut Roulette.

Slut Roulette Review: Random Webcams, But A Cheap Gimmick?

Slut Roulette describes itself as a ‘free’ alternative to Chat Roulette, but that’s not quite true.

See, there are several free streams here, and you’re not obligated to pay anything if you don’t want to – but Slut Roulette is actually just a reskinning of Streamate. We’ve got a full review on Streamate and as you can probably guess: there are quite a few paid features here.

Additionally, the site prompts you to create an account from the get go: you won’t be able to watch streams or message others if you don’t. When you do go to create an account, here’s what you’ll run into:

We’ve commented on the aggressiveness of Streamate and billing information before: it’s insistent on you having some form of payment attached to your account.

So, although Slut Roulette describes itself as a free platform, you cannot interact with any features without linking a credit card or PayPal account.

We can imagine that quite a few people would be somewhat confused by this. The good news is – it’s not a scam.

Streamate is a genuine cam platform and they don’t charge you for anything that you don’t explicitly agree to paying. However, we do think it’s questionable for Slut Roulette to describe itself as being ‘free’. It’s a half-truth at best.

For the remainder of this review, we’ll be looking at Slut Roulette via their secondary website: Slut Roulette Live.

This version of their platform operates similarly to a standard webcam platform and has a lot more features than Slut Roulette does. We also think it’s a more honest approach to the service, since it doesn’t really operate like Chat Roulette at all.

Types of Slut Roulette Models

Slut Roulette doesn’t have any particular demographic niche that stands out as uncommon in the webcam space.

One thing that we ought to note is that in terms of numbers, few come close to this platform. That’s because Slut Roulette is powered by Streamate, which has one of the largest databases of cam models in the world.

There were just over 2,000 live ladies online at the time of us writing our review. Ebony girls are also slightly more common here than other cam platforms, but it’s not a major difference.

Slut Roulette has made the decision to hide all male solo performers from its platform, even though the white label they’re operating has access to hundreds of them. There are ways to find male performers here, but it’s a real pain.

Female Models

With over 2,000 lovely broads to pick from, there’s no shortage of entertainment for lady lovers on Slut Roulette.

Lots of countries contribute talent here, including the likes of the United States, Romania, Colombia and Canada. The biggest performers in terms of popularity here were overwhelmingly American, but Colombia seems to contribute the highest number of girls.

Ethnicity breakdown was as follows: 80 Asians, 181 ebonies, 1,310 Latinas and 462 Caucasians (listed under ‘white girls’). No clear bias in age was present, though the top girls here are typically between 18 and 30.

Median age of the top 50 streamers online was 26. There are categories for teens, MILFs and grannies – the oldest streamer was 62!

Male Models

While it’s technically possible to visit individual streams at Slut Roulette that feature men, it’s a lot of hard work. There are no interface elements or clickable links that provide regular, convenient access to male webcams.

Slut Roulette has made it clear that it doesn’t want to host solo male performers, probably because the company also has a site called Jizz Roulette (which features only men).

Couples

77 couples were online, so around 4% of total streams on the platform.

Male on female was the dominant coupling, but we also saw girl on girl action too. Similar to the camgirl distributions, it’s evident that the most popular couples on Slut Roulette are American, but Latin American pairings seem to be the most common.

55 of the 77 streaming couples were tagged as Hispanic.

Transgender Models

To find all of the transsexual performers, scroll down the page and click the ‘transgirl’ category. 175 of the 2,000 online cams featured trans streamers, so around 9% of the total talent pool.

Colombians are quite popular here, as well as Venezuelans. Another popular origin country was the Philippines – 4 of the top 20 performers were Pinay. People have long considered Thailand to be the go-to spot in SEA for transgender girls – if camming is anything to go by, the Philippines might be coming for that title.

Types of Live Shows on Slut Roulette

Since Slut Roulette’s models come from Streamate, they have to abide by Streamate’s rules that state what they can and cannot do.

Historically, Streamate has been quite strict about nude visibility below the belt – that is, if models show holes in their free chat mode, they risk getting in trouble. Despite this, we’ve observed several camgirls who don’t seem to stick to these rules.

Let’s be clear here: Slut Roulette isn’t the best service for free camming, but the action you’ll find without spending anything is still somewhat reasonable. It’s never going to rival freemium havens such as BongaCams or Chaturbate, but it might be decent if your favorite camgirl is particularly daring.

Free Public Chat

You’ll pay a fixed, per-minute rate that varies depending on what the model has set her fee at. Private chats aren’t truly private – other users can enter a voyeur mode and see what the camgirl is doing. If you want to have a truly one on one session, you’ll need to use exclusive chat.

Exclusive Chat

Slut Roulette’s exclusive chat often costs more than private chat, but you have the benefit of it being a real one on one experience. In some instances, models don’t offer exclusive chat – or they charge a huge fee, since spies bring in additional revenue that they would otherwise lose out on.

Can I Record Live Shows on Slut Roulette?

There are no built-in tools on Slut Roulette that record private sessions for you. Some camgirls may record sessions and send them to you, but this seems to be an uncommon service. As a result, we’d say that Slut Roulette has a policy of shows not being recordable.

Live Stream Quality

Objective stream quality is something that we care about quite a lot: it’s one of the most important factors that tells us how modern and serious a platform is about its service.

Thankfully, Slut Roulette does offer camgirls the ability to output 1080p – and many do. The only problem we have is that qualities aren’t displayed as they are on YouTube (1080p, 720p, 480p, etc.), instead, they’re displayed with source, high, medium and low options.

It’s important to realize that stream qualities do depend on many factors. Our biggest complaint is that the minimum contribution amount is 1 USD – it’s a little steep for a toy to vibrate for two seconds. Models are also restricted to 5 price points and vibration settings. It’s nice that toys are available, but things could be a lot better.

Alongside interactive toys, Slut Roulette offers a tip menu – as well as a spinning wheel.

The tip menu is pretty simple: you contribute X amount of gold and the model does something in return. Gold menus aren’t restricted with regard to the number of items on them – prices also range from 1 to 99 gold. Camgirls can also choose to combine all of these options into a gambling feature. You spin a wheel and a random outcome is selected. Sometimes you get something big, other times it’s small.

Slut Roulette has a section on its site where streamers can share their videos for people to purchase and watch.

Over 62,000 are available right now, and more are added on a daily basis. You can view the videos in a central portal or, alternatively, below each camgirl’s live stream. Not all camgirls have videos, but a lot do.

We like the feature and the idea, we just have one huge problem: thumbnails here are blurred. We cannot possibly think of any reason why this is the case – especially since the camgirl feeds on the homepage aren’t. Here’s what it looks like:

We might be able to accept privacy concerns, but that goes out the window when you right-click on any image and open it in a new tab.

See, it’s not the thumbnails that are blurred: it’s just a filter on the web page that’s placed on top of them. We’re quite confused and don’t have a clear answer for why the video store is structured like this. It must significantly reduce the likelihood of a purchase being made – which is just bad for business.

Great idea, awful execution.

Getting Around Slut Roulette

Just a quick reminder: we’re looking at Slut Roulette Live instead of Slut Roulette, since the main website’s landing page is just a way of marketing the camgirls and not a good representation of how you’d use this website on a day to day basis.

The homepage displays a large number of preview panes that you can resize easily: great feature. Models have a preview thumbnail, name, location and age attached to their images. A rating is also displayed, but since models are almost all 5 stars, it’s not that useful.

Slut Roulette has a hybrid approach to paying for services.

Anything that others can see you do (tipping, activating toys, wheel spins and so on) are denominated in gold, which cost you 1 USD.

Note that gold on Slut Roulette cannot be purchased ahead of time – it’s just done because Streamate (the platform behind Slut Roulette) wants to keep costs obscure. When you pay for private sessions and videos, you’ll pay using your local currency (in most cases).

We’re not fans of this approach: it’s confusing, and a lot of consumers want to be able to buy in bulk ahead of time (perhaps even getting a discount as a result). We also found no way to filter or organize models on Slut Roulette based on their per-minute rate. This means that if you’re budget conscious, you’ll have to check performers individually for their rates.

We found that performers – especially those who are extremely popular and in demand – tend to charge around $5 to $10 per minute, USD. Given that you want a 10-minute private show, you’d probably pay around $75.

Remember that some camgirls will have better rates, so if you shop around, you might be able to snag yourself a bargain.

Gold shows can be a highly cost-effective way to see your favorite girls in action. We found that the floor price for a performance was anywhere from 5 to 10 gold. Out of all the largest cam platforms, Slut Roulette offers the least variety of payment options. We found only credit/debit cards and PayPal were available. There was a section when signing up for cryptocurrency, but when we attempted to use it, it resulted in a never ending redirect loop.

What Could Be Improved on Slut Roulette?

We understand the importance of marketing, but Slut Roulette’s gimmick isn’t a sustainable, or useful, way of interacting with the platform.

We dislike the claim that the service is free – we’d also like to see them include the hundreds of men that stream on their white label too. Ultimately, a lot of our complaints are just criticisms of Streamate – and there are plenty to make.

The lack of pre-purchasing is a bit of a pain: we know that some consumers like this feature, since it can limit their spending. When you have a card that’s attached and you can use whenever you want, you’re far less likely to stick to your budget.

Slut Roulette also has unfavorable exchange rates, and there’s no simple way of switching your fiat denomination if you’d like your bank to do the currency exchange on your behalf.

Our Verdict on Slut Roulette

If we were trying to get you to go elsewhere, we’d say that Slut Roulette has forced billing on signup, limited free shows, no male performers and higher than average per-minute rates for private sessions.

If we were trying to get you to visit Slut Roulette, we’d point out that it’s one of the few cam platforms with high bitrate 1080p streams, a huge quantity of live camgirls, great mobile features and a wide variety of niches covered.

Slut Roulette is basically Streamate, and Streamate is one of our top picks if you love cams. The bottom line is that you ought to consider Slut Roulette as a top contender for your attention in the live sex streaming space.
