MyFreeCams (or ‘MFC’) is an American live adult cam site that was launched in 2004 and is one of the most popular adult websites in the world.
The site ranks in the top 1,000 websites worldwide and is in the top 50 NSFW platforms.
With over 200,000 registered models, and 2500 channels active at any given time, MFC is second only to arch-rival Chaturbate for user activity.
Despite all this, the site is something of a throwback.
It looks and feels like… well, a site from 2004.
MyFreeCams is an old-school freemium cam site that shuns a lot of the modern bells and whistles favoured by the newer cam platforms. Inevitably, you’ll either love it or hate it.
In this MyFreeCams review, we look at how the site performs against the competition. Is MFC still the ‘go to’ place for free adult webcams? What do shows cost for viewers? And how profitable are they for models?

How Good Are The Cams on MFC?
One of the reasons MFC is so popular is the sheer number of amateur cams that are live at any given time.
You will rarely find less than 2500 models broadcasting.
How do the cams on MFC compare to other popular platforms?
Well, for a start, they are all solo females.
Most cam sites cover female, male, couples, and trans channels. But not MFC. All of the models on this platform are solo females, and as a result of that the homepage looks like something out of an escort directory.
While MFC makes no attempt to diversify with gender (or group shows), the women on the site are as diverse as you’d expect from a database boasting 200,000 models. There are women for every taste and preference, and from just about every part of the world.
There’s a strong contingent of studio cam girls, both of Latin America and Eastern European origin. But there’s also a huge smorgasbord of independent American cam girls.
While Chaturbate draws a true mix of international traffic, and other sites like Cam4 and Bonga Cams dominate in Europe, MyFreeCams is skewed heavily towards the US market.

Another thing to note – if you are new to the site – this is a strictly amateur platform.
You won’t find the professional models or part-time porn stars that are active on higher-end cam sites like Flirt4Free, LiveJasmin, IMLive or Streamate.

As far as cam sites go, the overall channel quality on MyFreeCams is a hit-and-miss.
There are some hidden gem channels where you can see some smoking hot scenes unfolding (fully explicit, full nudity, etc), or pick up a super cheap private show.
But there’s also a lot of dud channels with bored looking models who could be watching paint dry for all of the excitement on their faces.
The appeal – and frustration – with MFC, is that you just don’t know what you’re going to get.
How to Use MyFreeCams
Normally, when we review cam sites, the user experience is something we take for granted.
These companies have millions of dollars to spend on ensuring that things like signing up, or joining a show, are as smooth and painless as possible.
Well, on MyFreeCams, nobody got the memo.
It amazes us that MFC has managed to retain as many users and models as it has given that it is – by some distance – the ugliest of all of the major cam sites.
Signing Up
You can browse MyFreeCams without registering, and can even pop in to a few cam channels. But you won’t be able to chat, or interact with models, or explore any of the private show options, until you sign up as a member.
Basic membership is free.
Once you’re registered, you can start adding models to your favourites, add online friends or use private messages. You can also chat with models in the public channels.
If you decide to purchase tokens, you are automatically upgraded to Premium Member status – for life.
This gives you unlimited access (for an initial purchase of $19.99) to all of MFC’s member-only features.
It also marks you – in conversations – as a paying customer, and subsequently means that models are much more likely to give a damn what you have to say in their channels!
The MFC Interface
Look, there’s no hiding the truth: the MFC interface is ugly. Butt ugly. Fugly.
It’s not that it’s poorly designed, it’s just that it hasn’t been visually updated since the early 2000s.
Whereas most cam sites will use either live thumbnails or super enticing glossy pics of their hottest models, MFC settles for small square avatars that give little to no indication of what might be happening on that user’s channel.
This may seem like nitpicking but it really does make a difference in the overall user experience.
The homepage updates regularly as new models come online, but you can use their tagging system if you’d like to narrow the search somewhat.
The top tags when we last checked were: sexy, young, cute, natural, hot, sweet, shaved, toys, friendly, horny and ass.
It’s a start, but it doesn’t seem like the most efficient way of sifting through 2500 live channels.
MyFreeCams does have a mobile-friendly site which is easy enough to use, but tainted by the same lack of decent thumbnails.
Video Chat on MFC
The video quality on MFC depends on the webcam and connection quality of each model.
We found some high quality streams, but the majority are standard definition and what you’d expect of an amateur broadcasting in her bedroom.
MFC isn’t one for quality control when it comes to who can broadcast on the platform, but it’s not the worst for quality either.
When you enter a chat room, the screen is split about 30/70, with 30% dedicated to the broadcast, and the rest littered with thumbnails to other shows and old-school style text-based chat streaming vertically.
It’s a bit of an eye-sore, and there’s Comic Sans everywhere…
All in all though, if you’re looking for a community-driven group chat with some titillating action, that’s exactly what you’re going to get.
What Does MyFreeCam Cost?
MyFreeCams is primarily a tipping-based platform.
Models like to set tip targets, or post menus of actions that can be purchased by contributing viewers.
You can see a decent amount of fully explicit action for free, but as always, the best content is reserved for private shows and paying users.
There are several types of private shows.
Private Shows
Most models will have an option in the chat to Go Private.
If the model chooses to accept, you’ll enter a private show that is charged at a flat rate of 1 token per second (or 60 tokens per minute).
This handy conversion tool shows how much MFC tokens are worth.
1 MFC token = $0.05.
Therefore a private show on MyFreeCams will cost $3 per minute, which is fairly cheap compared to the competition.
We certainly appreciate that it’s a flat rate scheme. All private shows are costed in the same way.
Spy Shows & Voyeur Mode
If a model is in a private show with another user, that doesn’t mean that you can’t stick your beak in the room and have a look at what’s going on.
Want to become the invisible third wheel?
Spy mode lets you join another user’s private show for 20 tokens per minute ($1).
You won’t be able to chat, but we’re guessing you don’t care about that.
TruePrivate Mode
If you want to go private with a model, but you don’t want any other members to see her stream, then you can go TruePrivate.
This raises the cost of the show to 80 tokens per minute ($4) to offset what the model is losing by not being able to sell access to anybody else.
Group Shows
A Group Show is similar to a Private Show, but multiple users can chat and take part.
Group shows are charged at just 10 tokens per minute ($0.50) with the requirement that there must be at least 3 members to meet the group criteria.
In reality, the models will try to attract as many users as possible as this is one of the most profitable ways for her to broadcast the best content without making it entirely free to the public.
Due to the reduced rate, members are strongly encouraged to tip models in group chats. It’s not a requirement, but it will certainly be appreciated.
Club Shows
A Club Show is a Group Show that is free to members of a model’s club on MFC Share (see below).
If you have a favorite model, you can subscribe to her MFC Share and get access to her club shows for free.

MFC pays an impressive 61.4% of all gross money spent on the platform to its models.
That beats a lot of rival sites, including Chaturbate. However it doesn’t quite match the rapidly growing CamSoda, which offers around 65%.
Still, the revenue distribution is very good.
As confirmed by MFC, cam models earn $0.05 of every token spent.
Members purchase tokens in pre-defined packages. Larger packages cost less per token. But models are always paid the same amount ($0.05) per token, so the calculating the percentage paid to the model would depend on the package purchased by the member.

This explains why the model payout percentage can range from anywhere between 50% to 63%.
The minimum payout for models is just $20 and payments are made twice per month on the 1st and 16th.
Overall, MFC is clearly one of the better platforms for models in terms of payouts and revenue share.
It might not have the sleek presentation or high-end marketing of other platforms, but more of the money that gets spent ends up back in the model’s pockets, and for that we say: well done MFC!

This is MyFreeCams entering the world of amateur fan clubs.
