Yep, according to PornHub’s 2022 year in review, inked babes are viewed for an average of 18 minutes and 41 seconds, behind only the the Mature category for ‘user stickiness’. 😉
Tattoos and porn go hand-in-hand these days. The last decade has seen an increase in the number of porn stars with elaborate tattoos and skin art on display. This is most notable in the kink/fetish genres, but you don’t have to look far to find inked stars. And if the stats are anything to go by, we can’t stop watching them.

Tattoos In Porn: The Numbers Don’t Lie
Is it really such a surprise that there are so many tattooed pornstars?
According to data collected by Compare Camp, more than one in three US citizens aged 18-29 have a tattoo compared to just 11% in the age range 50-64.
Across all ages, 46% of Americans have at least one piece of skin art. And, in one survey undertaken in 2012, more women than men in the US were getting tattooed; 59% versus just 41% of men!
Right across the Western world, the trends are similar with inks being most popular in:
- Italy – 48% of respondents have at least one tattoo
- Sweden – 47% of respondents have at least one tattoo
- Australia – 43% of respondents have at least one tattoo
- Argentina – 43% of respondents have at least one tattoo
- Spain – 42% of respondents have at least one tattoo
- United Kingdom 40% of respondents have at least one tattoo
So, with over two in five individuals being tattooed these days, it’s little wonder that we see so many porn stars sporting skin art. After all, you can’t exactly hide it on a XXX shoot.
Pornhub runs an annual analysis on global porn viewing trends and the search term ‘tattooed women’ was the third most popular gaining category in 2019. Interest in clips tagged with these keywords increased year-on-year by 85%. This followed a rise in interest the previous year of 88%. The latest 2022 data suggests that demand is still growing — and fast.
Some more interesting tat-stats:
- The most common place for men to have a tattoo is across their back or shoulders whilst for women it is on the ankle.
- More women than men regret their tattoos but the most commonly cited reason for that regret is having the name of someone else inked on your skin.
- According to one survey, the most popular tattoos are of women followed by hearts and angels.
- The first Playboy centerfold to show a visible tattoo on her shoot was Star Stowe (February 1977). She met an unfortunate end, covered in detail by The Playboy Murders: Girl With The Star Tattoo.
- Mattel launched a special edition Barbie which sported a butterfly tattoo across her abdomen. It was controversial with parents and was later withdrawn.
- Billy Gibby, known as the Human Billboard, sold his face for advertising when he had the website addresses and logos of several XXX companies tattooed on his face. Famously this included Pornhub, Homemade Videos and Dr Freak. He’s since had them removed.
