But, we wanted to know how Flingster compares to the competition and what else makes it special…

In this Flingster review, we take a closer look at the Flingster site including what you can expect whilst using it, how much it costs and the platform’s main features.

What is Flingster?

Born from the frustration that many people have when using chat rooms or online hook up sites and the abundance of ‘robots’, Flingster was created as an antidote to this fakery.

An online adult community of strangers who want to video chat with other like-minded people for XXX fun (and possibly a hookup), Flingster was introduced to the market in 2017.

The site is used by men, women and couples from all around the world and there are over 4.8 million people registered on Flingster. According to Flingster themselves, there are around 150,000 users online at any given time.

And, these aren’t professional cam girls or chat hosts waiting for tips, these are real people just like you!

Okay, the vast majority are men and at times you can find the whole site is just one endless stream of dick pics whilst lonely and horny guys sit waiting to be connected with a woman.

A truly international platform, around one in five users do come from the United States but Flingster is also pretty popular in Europe (especially the United Kingdom and Germany) but also in Russia and India.

How to Use Flingster

To get started, you will need to register using an email address or log-in using Google. Once validated you will be given the option to upgrade your account, often at a discount.

If you choose to upgrade to a premium VIP membership then you do get more options available to you (see ‘Features’, below). However, the service is completely free to use, so you can bypass this offer.

When you hit the home screen you will need to identify if you are Male, Female or a Couple. Sadly, there are no other options so it’s unclear how Trans people would identify on the site.

Then you just click ‘Start Chatting’.

The system will then randomly try to pair you with another user who is online but, be warned, both your microphone and webcam will instantly be enabled so you will be on-screen each time you are connected.

Once a match has been made, you can either choose to skip to another webcam or start chatting.

The primary method is, of course, via the webcam but users can also opt to use the text chat function on screen or just the mic.

Features of Flingster

Although a very basic video chat platform, there are a couple of decent features you can use on Flingster.

Intro Message

You can automate your own chat settings so that an intro message is generated to every new user who you connect with.

Mutual Interests

Users can update a small bio in their chat settings to include their interests and this means making a match with someone like-minded gets that bit easier.

On-Site Translation

With so many nationalities hitting the site up, it’s a relief to learn that Flingster has its own translation tool embedded on the site so you can have your messages automatically translated.

Anonymity

There are no personal details shown on-screen when you connect with another user and all you see is a gender, location and a ‘Heart Rating’.

Users can also select from a range of AR Face Filters which will automatically adjust to cover their face, offering some degree of anonymity.

Heart Rating

If you liked the chat you had with a specific user then you can click on their ‘Heart’ icon and show them so love. This rains some emoticons on screen and boosts their ‘Heart Rating’.

Location Filters

One of the best features of the site is the location filter which allows you to find and be matched only with people in your area.

It only comes with premium membership and you can enjoy random video chat with strangers from all across the world without it but WITH the location filter set right Flingster does offer the potential for you to arrange local hook ups.

Gender Filter

Another feature which is only open for premium members, the gender filter is really a must-have for any guys who want to make the most out of the site. As we’ve already said, the gender balance on Flingster is male-heavy and unless you are a VIP user you will find it hard to get connected to a girl’s cam.

How Much is Flingster?

Flingster is free to use but a basic account does limit the amount of features you have access to. So, for a more advanced experience you can sign up for a VIP account.

Priced at $6.99 per week, $19.99 per month or $89.94 for six months, this allows you to kill the ads and use both the gender and location filters.

VIP users can also reconnect with a user they have previously enjoyed chat with.

All upgrades are charged via Segpay using a credit card and will re-bill automatically until cancelled.

Flingster Review: A Truly Random Adult Chat Roulette?

On the positive side, this site is incredibly easy to use and you don’t need a degree to figure out the basics.

It’s also quick to register and you really can get started in a matter of minutes. And, all for free.

Another big plus point is the anonymity offered with this platform.

You don’t need to register anything other than an email address and no details are exchanged between users other than your gender and location (this is automatically picked up by your IP address so proxy and VPN users have to bear this in mind).

You can also take advantage of the site’s own AR face filters (or, virtual masks) to further protect your identity.

Members who pay extra to go VIP can also take advantage of some pretty useful filters including geographical and gender but also to match their chat based on mutual interests.

On the downside, as we’ve already pointed out, there are far more guys using the platform than there are women so you will probably be waiting a long time before being connected if you are holding out for female company.

Nor can you find a stranger in your area unless you pay to go premium.

Another big issue for us was the assumption that everyone on here is straight. It seems that the system automatically tries to connect men with women and women with men and it would be nice to be able to choose sexuality in order to be connected with someone who matches.

We also didn’t like the fact that you can’t select being Trans. Again, there are plenty of people who would like to be matched with a shemale for some XXX chat.

Lastly, though the help files on the site indicate that you need to allow the platform access to your mic and webcam, we found that this happened automatically without any opt-in.

This needs to be looked at as some people who are just curious could find themselves being caught out unawares the first time they use it. If they are paying members who have selected a local area then this could be pretty compromising if they haven’t engaged any of the anonymity ‘masks’.

A final carp, though not a negative, it would be nice to see this platform as an app (something like Tinder).

Though there are a couple of negative things we could say about the site the overall premise is pretty good and if you are a premium member then there are certainly some good opportunities to hook up locally if you get lucky.

Your chances are vastly increased if you are a woman but patient guys may well be rewarded…
