As of September 19, 2022, the tool’s Content Policy has banned users from making, uploading, or sharing images that aren’t G-rated or could cause harm. Of course, this includes NSFW images that involve nudity, sexual services, sexual acts, or content crafted to cause sexual arousal.
The generation of “shocking” images is also disallowed. The Policy includes anything that “may shock or disgust,” such as bodily fluids and obscene gestures.
People are encouraged to report any suspected violations through the help center. If somebody reports you, the DALL-E team will investigate your account and take relevant action. Account terminations are likely in this scenario!
What Are The Ethical Concerns Around Deepfake Porn?
We’ve mentioned the lawful and legitimate use of AI porn generators sporadically, but it’s perhaps the most essential part of today’s conversation. These tools can be dangerous and exceptionally harmful in the wrong hands.
One major concern is that deepfake pornography convinces audiences that real people did things they didn’t do. Nonconsensual distribution of this porn contributes to unjust social structures and abolishes the very, very necessary “consent is key” rule.
Whether in-person or online, consent is key. This isn’t something that’s up for debate. People own their bodies (including how they would like their images shared, changed, or depicted).

At the most basic level, we’re already seeing the rise of AI porn search engines, making it easier than ever to sift through decades of adult content.
Studios could start using AI instead of hiring actual porn stars. And the porn stars themselves may license their features for AI productions. Either way, it will undoubtedly dictate the direction of the sector.
Ultimately, policies must be in place to regulate the shifts in a way that prioritizes human health and welfare. But this will unlikely happen until the technology crafts more immersive, long-form videos.
